Main Projects and Services
We have a wide range of project on-the-go, from environmental work, to truth and reconciliation, to teachers resource material, and much more. Many of these projects provide opportunities for engagement or education for the public.

Youth Environmental Stewardship Program - YESP
During 6 weeks of the summer, we train three Indigenous and three non-Indigenous adults in reading the environment from a traditional Ojibwe perspective. This program is an excellent opportunity for hands-on learning and engagement with a wide range of communities. Along with our hired crew, we teach classes, groups, and interested individuals, learning from and teaching each other along the way. Click to see more about the program or send us a resume - age range is 18-25.

Environmental Monitoring
Environmental monitoring is a key part of our day to day work. Using both Ojibwe environmental knowledge and Western science, we learn to read how the environment is responding to a rapidly changing climate. Click to read more about our YESP program or check out our blog to learn more about what we do.

Indigenous Environmental Teaching - In The Field
Using traditional Ojibwe knowledge to better understand the environment around us is central to our work, and it provides many unique and deep insights into our local ecosystems. As a central part of Ojibwe culture is to teach what you know to help better the world, we offer in-the-field workshops and teaching hikes to interested groups at any time of the year.

Indigenous Environmental Teaching - In The Classroom
Traditional Ojibwe environmental knowledge is something we teach frequently in the classroom for both teachers and students alike. There are many stories about our local ecosystems, from squirrels and oak trees, mushrooms and ants, the personalities of birds, and much more that lend themselves well to classroom settings.

Teacher Assistance on Indigenous Knowledge and Relations
Teachers often talk to us about the lack of resources on Indigenous subjects and Truth and Reconciliation. We do aim to fill that gap through workshops with teachers and classes teaching traditional Ojibwe perspectives on these issues.

Land-Based Mind Map Teacher's Resource
One of our main projects, the Land-Based Mind Map Teacher's Resource aims to fill a gap in traditional environmental knowledge resources for schools. Originally designed as a mind map for our YESP summer program, this resource encompasses much of the issues and subjects we deal with out in the environment on a regular basis.

Environmental Conferences
We have started holding conferences and meetings on environmental and indigenous issues. See our calendar for up-coming open events or contact us directly for immediate involvement.

Land Audits
Reading the health and uses of various areas in the field is a key part of our job. Through plant identification, soil testing, and reading the landscape, we provide landowners with key information about their properties. Click to see more on our services including land audits and more.

Public Outreach
We are frequently asked to speak at schools, conferences, PD days, events, and much more. Click to see more information on our services including public outreach and more.
