Tag Along With Us!
Monitoring southern Manitoba is a lot of work! We travel back and forth across the province watching the seasons change, plants grow, and animals do their thing. We're out keeping an eye on places like Spruce Woods and Turtle Mountain Provincial Parks, natural areas around the Pembina and Assiniboine Valley, and local forests and grasslands from Vita to Brandon Hills.
Between teaching in schools or at community events, we've applied to continue running our Youth Environmental Stewardship Program for the next three years - now aiming to run 8 weeks of the summer teaching our students Traditional Ojibwe and Western perspectives on the environment.
We frequently get asked if we welcome visitors to our work in the field. The answer is yes - and year-round! Check out the events page below (to be added this spring) or use the contact form below to see if we're up to anything in your area.
Project Examples

Indian Springs Beaver Management
All - Season
At Indian Springs Valley in Swan Lake First Nation, Dave has managed beaver behavior since 1987 to create a sanctuary habitat for beavers, fish, birds, plants and insects. Providing clean water and ideal habitat for species struggling elsewhere, this area is a true oasis for native Prairie flora and fauna. It's a sight to see!

Hikes and Site Visits
All - Season
Being out in the bush visiting sites in all weather conditions and seasons is key to understanding what is happening in the environment. Over much of the year, we monitor plant, animal, water, snow, and soil behavior across the Tiger Hills, Spruce Woods, Turtle Mountains, Sandilands, Pembina Valley, Assiniboine Valley, and many other areas!

The Youth Environmental Stewardship Program
Spring and Summer Months
